This is a video I made about the discography of singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Bernard Butler. I used his song "Hotel Splendide" as the soundtrack. More info about Bernard Butler on his myspace page

British independent pop music (1994-1999)
I like a lot of music from that era, but I can't stand the name Britpop.
jumping on the bandwaggon - In no particular order, some my favourite songs from the "Britpop era" (1994-1999).If you are a bit of an anglophile and you like pop songs, then perhaps, you'll find something from here that you like. audience looking from songs from Britain. I had lots of enjoyment with these and the videos are cool. And indeed, I think that these songs here have stood the test of time. Also, some of these artists still make music nowadays and their musical journey from then to now has been fascinating to listen to. Other bands were a bit of one hit wonders but their songs will not be forgotten.

If you like a song, buy it or if you were around back then (!), dust your cassettes and CDs. I think it's great that youtube exists to allow a revisit of this music. The good thing about buying mp3s these days is that you can make your own compilation - because frankly back in the nineties some did suck

current update:

On April 30th, I went to the Belfast Cathedral Quarter festival to see Oumou Sangare and her band. Images to follow. Here is a link to her song: Bi Furu
The Eurovision Song Contest was very good this year, less kitsch, more musicianship without loosing the regional angle and the quirkiness, some excellent lyrics. I like the programme because this is the only music programme where you have people from different countries at equal level. It's a venerable institution who celebrated its 54th birthday. Zebras54 top favourites are:

Patricia Kaas - New album out now in France.

Noa & Mira Awad - There Must Be Another Way

Jade Ewen and Andrew Lloyd Webber: It's my time
